While this is usually the time that most people try a number of fad diets in order to get in shape, it&#8217;s important to realize that the effects of these types of diets is usually not long-term. A detox diet is probably more suitable, and contrary to popular belief, you&#8217;ll still be able to eat a variety of foods while on the diet. Here are the top 10 detoxification diets that you may want to (realistically) try.
</p>
<p>Vegetable Diet. For this diet, you&#8217;ll be eating lots of green leafy vegetables for every meal. You can eat your veggies raw (this is recommended), or steam them with a number of current herbs for seasoning. If you have a juicer, you may want to make some veggie juices for meals. Other vegetables that aren&#8217;t green, like carrots or cauliflower, can also be included in the diet, since you&#8217;ll also need an adequate supply of vitamin A and beta carotene. The chlorophyll in vegetables helps to move toxins out of your body. And since vegetables contain a number of &#8216;good&#8217; carbohydrates, you&#8217;ll be able to lose weight while still having energy.

<p>Green Tea Diet. Green tea is full of antioxidants. And when you&#8217;re drinking lots of tea, you&#8217;re hydrating your body in the best way. This will help to reduce inflammation, which is a big help when it comes to losing weight. Green tea also has catechins, which help to speed up the activity of the liver and rid your body of toxins much quicker. Drinking tea with every meal, and attempting to eat a balanced diet of organic fruits and vegetables will yield results in terms of weight loss and improved liver function in just a few weeks.

<p>Psyllium Husk Diet. Ok, so this isn&#8217;t actually a diet, but you should take the husks as a supplement in order to lose weight&mdash;or to manage your weight. Psyllium is a plant that is very rich in soluble fiber. Taking supplements that bear this ingredient will sweep the impurities out of your body, and will also help to lower your cholesterol. You can pour a few teaspoons into your juice at breakfast time, or fair mix it with a glass of water in between meals. You&#8217;ll find that this will make you fuller in between meals, so you&#8217;ll be less likely to overeat or decide unhealthy snacks.

<p>Cabbage Diet. Cabbage has a number of detoxifying properties that will give you more energy, and take away fat from the belly area. Cabbage also has the ability to activate the cleansing properties of the liver. In order to follow this diet, you should try to have some form of cabbage at every meal. Making coleslaw with raisins, carrots, and lemon juice is a great way to compliment your lunch or dinner, and will give you an energy boost. You can also make a stock or soup from the cabbage and drink it throughout the day. Adding ingredients like cayenne pepper to the soup will help to boost your metabolism and beget weight loss more consistent.

<p>Fruit Diet. Fruit is full of all the good things that you need to discontinue energetic and lean. Citrus fruits, peaches and apricots contain vitamin C, which helps your body to fight colds and flue. Apples and blueberries are tubby of antioxidants that attend your body to ward off free radicals. Bananas contain enough potassium for the day, which is essential for healthy blood and cholesterol. To stick to this diet, make a fruit smoothie for breakfast in the morning&mdash;bananas and berries are a great way to start your day. You can also make a fruit salad for dessert, so that you can satisfy your sugar cravings without eating something unhealthy.

<p>Citrus Diet. Lemons, limes, and grapefruits are great fruits to eat when you&#8217;re trying to lose weight. You can make a tea from these fruits to carry with you all day to continue activating your kidneys and liver, and adding cayenne pepper to the mixture is beneficial as well. You may also want to combine this with the cabbage diet.

<p>Gluten-free Diet. Reducing the amount of simple carbohydrates in your diet is a big way to make sure that you stay at your ideal weight. Gluten is the protein that is found in wheat, rye, barley, and oats&mdash;and eating these grains can make it really hard to drop that last 5 or 10 pounds. Substitute gluten-free breads in your diet, and try eating rice as a side dish with meals instead of bread. You&#8217;ll feel more energized after about a week or so, and you&#8217;ll find that it&#8217;s much easier to shed those unwanted pounds.

<p>Candida Diet. Several people have a hard time staying healthy and keeping off weight due to an overgrowth of candida albicans. Everyone has a small percentage of candida albicans in their gut, but eating too much sugar and simple carbohydrates can provide the body with an abundance of candida, and this can lead to some serious problems, including acne, weight gain, hormonal imbalances, and fibromyalgia. For this diet, you&#8217;ll need to gash out all starches, including potatoes and rice. Fruits with high sugar content are also eliminated, and no dairy products are allowed. Making these changes will stop feeding the excess amount of candida in the intestines, and will secure you back to a healthy weight. The diet has also been known to improve mood, eliminate depression, and yield clear and glowing skin.

<p>Mood-boosting Diet. Now that the holidays are over, you&#8217;re back in the rat race&mdash;which makes it extremely difficult to diet. You need a diet that will elevate your mood, and give you more energy and ability to concentrate. So, fill your diet with foods that are rich in B vitamins. A handful of blueberries for a snack, and grilled or baked chicken breasts for lunch or dinner (or with a salad) are great ways to feed your brain and regain focus. You may also want to visit your local health food store for B vitamin supplements that you can take with every meal.

<p>Fertility Diet. If you&#8217;re planning on introducing a unique addition to the family this year, you&#8217;ll definitely want to pay special attention to the fertility diet. This means you should cut out all simple sugars and carbohydrates from your diet. Sugar contains testosterone, and eating too worthy of it will throw female hormones off balance, making it hard to get pregnant. Adding things like fatty fish (e.g. salmon, tuna) will increase the amount of omega-3 fatty acids in your system. This will increase brain power and help the baby&#8217;s brain to form correctly as well. Eating foods that contain folic acid is very important as well, so fill your plate up with green veggies like broccoli and kale at every meal.
</p>
