In aims to clear toxins out of the body and, in so do, help the diet&#8217;s follower lose weight. On the surface, it seems innocent enough: drink fruit and vegetable purees and exercise moderately. Look around, though, and you&#8217;ll study that it&#8217;s had some very negative reviews.
</p>
<p><strong>What is the Martha&#8217;s Vineyard Detox Diet?  </strong><br />Roni DeLuz, ND and author of <em>21 Pounds in 21 Days: The Martha&#8217;s Vineyard Diet Detox</em> is a licensed naturopathic working at Martha&#8217;s Vineyard Holistic Retreat, an inn that offers natural treatments to support both physical and mental health. DeLuz&#8217;s interest in detoxification came after her acquire struggle with chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. The Martha&#8217;s Vineyard Detox Diet she now promotes is based primarily on fruit and vegetable juices and purees, vegetable broths, and herbal teas. It also includes vitamins, herbal supplements, and digestive enzymes meant to provide nourishment for the body during the cleaning. Needless to say, these are a sticking point with all lot of would-be followers of the Martha&#8217;s Vineyard Detox Diet. Colonics need to be done by a medical professional, so they run into money. Coffee enemas may be cheaper, few people would gaze forward to one. DeLuz recommends coffee enemas to help clean toxins from the liver. She does confirm, though, that if these aren&#8217;t an option for you, there are alternatives. Drinking more water and using an herbal cleanse formula are some methods she suggests. The real scrape here is that the Martha&#8217;s Vineyard Detox Diet is crude in fiber and fiber is what helps the colon cleanse itself naturally. If you&#8217;re not getting enough bulk fiber, you&#8217;ll need another way to remove the waste.

Staying on the Martha&#8217;s Vineyard Detox Diet for the full 21 days, however, is another matter. Not only is the diet lacking in protein and fiber, it also require a number of dietary supplements that aren&#8217;t affordable for many people.

<p>The Martha&#8217;s Vineyard Detox Diet may seem aesthetic on the surface, but there are a number of things to reflect before you start this eating plan. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>A lot of men today are creating &#8216;Man Caves&#8217; in basements or spare bedrooms, where they can bond with their male friends, watch the big game, or unbiased hide out from their spouse; but what about us women?  Where can we go to relax and to get a little peace?
</p>
<p>Where can we go to get away from the stresses of daily life, dealing with our job, cooking meals, rushing kids to school and sports events?  One location that I escape to is my own private spa. You don&#8217;t need a hot tub, Jacuzzi, or expensive skin products to get the ideal spa tailored for your specific wants and needs.
</p>
<p>In my bathroom I have a drawer where I keep all my special spa treatments, most of which are made from everyday food staples, herbal teas, and dried herbs. I have body and face scrubs, moisturizers, bath treatments, and noteworthy more. I also have a variety of scented candles and use them according to my mood.
</p>
<p>The best way to fabricate a stash of spa treatments is to prepare these ahead of time and store them in airtight containers in your maintain special dwelling. Herbal teas are great spa treatments. You can buy herbal teas in bags or do what I do and make your beget out of dried herbs and food staples, tied with a string in a square of muslin cloth. Large baby food jars work great for the storage containers and take up little space.
</p>
<p>I label the jars as to their purpose. One jar with lavender leaves and lime peel would be labeled, &#8216;Relax&#8217;, while another with bay and peppermint leaves would be labeled, &#8216;Pick-Me-Up&#8217;. I also keep a jar of milk bath in my drawer. This is no more than powdered milk, Epson salts, and baking soda.
</p>
<p>When I&#8217;m ready to relax in my personal spa, I perform clear I have everything done that needs to be done. All evening chores have been completed and there is no need to reduce short my spa time because I have forgotten to put the dishes away. I can relax and savor.
</p>
<p>I start off by selecting an herbal bag and lighting a candle that fits my mood. I put the bag of herbs and milk bath into the bath and let the hot water urge over it. While the bath water is running, I exfoliate my knees, feet, and elbows with some sea salt, oatmeal, and chopped almonds using a stiff brush and working it around in a circular motion. I rinse this off and then slip into the soothing bath water.
</p>
<p>In the bath I exercise a loofah sponge to gentle massage my body, starting with my feet and working my way up. The massage will help promote circulation and add a healthy glow to the skin. The milk bath is soothing to the skin, while the herbs relieve me to relax. After about 15 minutes, I pat myself dry and apply a small amount of moisturizer all over my body made of baby oil and lavender.
</p>
<p>I also make this myself by putting a few sprigs of novel lavender from my garden in the baby oil and letting it set for about two weeks. The aroma is wonderful and helps one sleep better, plus you don&#8217;t need a lot of the oil on your skin. Lavender is great for when you want to relax, while bay and peppermint are good stimulants.
</p>
<p>It took me some time and experimenting, but I finally found some good herbal companions for spa treatments such as rosemary and sage for an invigorating bath. Basil, eucalyptus, and peppermint are good for a stimulating bath. You can revitalize with ginger, lemon, and parsley, and grated orange and lemon peels in the milk bath are great for stimulation and aroma.
</p>
<p>To complete my spa time, I have a cup of soothing herbal tea before going to bed<br />

I do this 7 day cleanse every January and then again in June when many fruits and vegetables are available.<br />Daily-The following need to be done on all 7 days.<br />Carrot Salad: 1 c. finely shredded carrots or carrot pulp from juicer. 1 tbl extra virgin olive oil, 1 tbl lemon juice, 1 tsp ground flax seed. A dash of cinnamon tastes ample mixed in.<br />Vegetable Puree: 2-3 stalks chopped celery, 2-3 c. each chopped zucchini and green beans, 1-3 tbls chopped parsley, 1 tbl minced garlic, ginger cayenne, vegetables spices to taste.<br />Steam all the vegetables and puree until smooth in a blender. Add all spices and bound. Eat 1-2 c. of this soup every day. <br />Daily Juice: Juice 1 cramped beet, 1 bunch endive, 1 medium apple, 1 lemon, 2 stalks celery or 1 cucumber. This should be 3-8 ounces of juice.<br />I take my multivitamin, colloidal minerals, and sublingual B every day too.<br />At least 2 times in the 7 day cleanse I use an organic coffee enema. This helps release toxins from the liver stimulating bile flow. If you happen to get nauseas after the enema, be sure to drink plenty of mint tea. That will soothe the stomach. This is how I prepare the enema. 3 heaping tbls of organically grown coffee to 1 quart of purified water. Boil for 3 minutes then simmer for 17 minutes with the lid on. Strain the grounds and let cool. After administering the enema, beget the fluid for 10-15 minutes. Be positive to drink at least 8 oz of celery and carrot juice after the enema to replenish any minerals lost. <br />Milk Thistle enhances liver function and should be taken after every meal. <p>Diarrhea is very common during the induction or cleansing phase of the diet as the body is ridding itself of excess carbohydrates. This is when the process of ketosis begins. The experience of diarrhea in the beginning phases of this diet simply indicates that the process is working correctly.

You&#8217;ll want to find a diet that fast sheds unwanted pounds, doesn&#8217;t take much work, easy to follow and easy to manage. You don&#8217;t want lectures over healthy foods and why you need regular exercise &#8212; that&#8217;s too hard to follow. So you launch your Firefox or your Internet Explorer, looking for diets that promise huge weight loss and easy instructions&#8230;you&#8217;ll click on articles about grapefruit diets, chocolate diets, about every diet imaginable until, heaven forbid, you come across <strong>The Diet</strong>.

<p>What is <strong>The Diet</strong>?
</p>
<p><strong>The Diet</strong> is everything you need. 10lbs in a week! Be a size 2 in a month! You won&#8217;t starve with <em>this</em> diet! This diet promises everything and the moon, and you read on, thinking this is your miracle cure.
</p>
<p>Did you notice some odd phrases as you scroll down?  Along with diet, weight loss, and skinny jeans, you might read <em>ana</em>, <em>mia</em>,<em> pro-ana</em>&#8230;what does that mean?
</p>
<p>Do you realize you&#8217;re on a <em>pro-anorexia site</em>?
</p>
<p>Some are frightened; they click the back button. Some desperate individuals won&#8217;t click back, however. They actually try the diet. Miniature do they know the harm it causes them: body, mind, and spirit. They do the diet regardless, as they explore the pounds magically descend off.
</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re thinking of doing a diet on a Pro-Anorexia website, think again. If Pro-Anorexia doesn&#8217;t alarm you, this will. Listen up, people: the Sacred Heart Diet <em>is</em> on here! So is the Master Cleanse Diet (the diet that Beyonce did), a.k.a. the &#8220;poop-all-day&#8221; diet. These are all dangerous diets that impact you negatively, with the worst effects on people at risk for eating disorders. Run from these &#8220;sacred&#8221; diets while you can.
</p>
<p><strong>The Sacred Heart Diet</strong><br />Also known as the cabbage diet, the Sacred Heart Diet is <a href="http://www.everydiet.org/sacred_heart_diet.htm" rel="nofollow">supposedly a diet developed</a> by medical professionals at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Montreal, Canada. The Sacred Heart Hospital denies any involvement with producing this diet. The Sacred Heart Diet claims this was made for overweight heart patients, but the actual hospital doesn&#8217;t back up these claims.
</p>
<p>With that said, this is what the Sacred Heart Diet is:<br />- You&#8217;re supposed to do it only for a week.<br />- It&#8217;s a diet, mostly soup-based. You make a huge vat of vegetable soup to eat, made from low-calorie vegetables.<br />- You eat as much soup as you want. Fill up!<br />- You are allowed certain foods to eat on obvious days. It&#8217;s too lengthy to list all of it, but <a href="http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/25942.html" rel="nofollow">here&#8217;s an explanation</a>. <br />- Your drinks are restricted. Basically anything that&#8217;s low-calorie.
</p>
<p>The Sacred Heart Diet <em>claims</em> that this sacred soup is fat-burning, that the ingredients magically shed pounds. Look up the ingredients and the calories: 50 calories per cup. If you eat all the soup you want, you aren&#8217;t even going to break 500 calories. Add that with food and you won&#8217;t even make 1200 calories, the recommended amount needed for a diet to work. 1000 is starvation; 750 is Anorexia.
</p>
<p>You will shed weight at first. Everyone does. This is called water weight, and people hold 2-5lbs of water weight at a time (Mrs. Olson here holds 10 or so, but her body just hates her). If you weigh yourself and see the stout weight difference, it&#8217;s <em>not </em>the magic of the Sacred Heart Diet: it&#8217;s the magic of your pee this morning, which is how it was &#8216;flushed out&#8217;. It comes back once you eat regularly.
</p>
<p>Secondly, the Sacred Heart Diet is extremely unsafe because of the calories. If you follow this opinion, you&#8217;ll eat as many calories genuine to be an Anorexic. You&#8217;ll get heart palpitations, dizziness, fatigue &#8212; Sacred Heart Diet followers say this is from &#8216;detoxification&#8217;, which is code word for &#8220;you&#8217;re not getting enough calories and your body can&#8217;t function!&#8221;.
</p>
<p>Also know that when you stop this diet, the weight will reappear.
</p>
<p>Case in point: the Sacred Heart Diet is an extremely uncertain diet. It&#8217;s on Pro-Anorexia sites for a reason. Avoid it.
</p>
<p><strong>The Master Cleanse Diet</strong><br />Get ready not to eat with this diet! You&#8217;ll be doing a &#8220;master cleanse&#8221;, which is code word for &#8220;fasting and pooping a lot&#8221;.
</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s <a href="http://www.colonzone.org/Master-Cleansing-Diet.php" rel="nofollow">how you do the Master Cleanse</a>:
</p>
<p>- You need to make your master cleansing drink. This involves freshly squeezed lemon juice, organic grade-B syrup, cayenne pepper, and spring water. Yes, you mix it together and drink it. In fact, you drink it 6 times a day!<br />- You also can drink all the water you want.<br />- You&#8217;ll need to drink a herbal laxative tea every evening.<br />- Every morning you do a salt water flush, which is code word for drinking sea salt and pooping a lot.<br />- You can&#8217;t eat. You can only have the water and the Master Cleanse juice.
</p>
<p>The Master Cleanse Diet also claims this:
</p>
<p>- It detoxifies your body as it &#8216;leaves your body&#8217;.<br />- This diet aims to also flush out other parasites, mucus, waste, and leftover stuff from your colon. Community members on various message boards like to take pictures of the &#8216;results&#8217;.<br />- You&#8217;ll feel great afterwards! Sicknesses, facial problems go away speedily because you&#8217;re detoxified.
</p>
<p>Again, like the Sacred Heart Diet, you lose water weight from this. Some trusty weight also, depending on the length, but the actual weight comes back once you eat again.
</p>
<p>The biggest reason the Master Cleanse works: you poop a lot. Cayenne pepper does not do well on an empty stomach. Neither does drinking laxative tea. And the saltwater flush does just that &#8212; it flushes out lots of fecal matter. If you&#8217;re pooping numerous times a day not eating anything, the scale will register weight loss. Unfortunately, it won&#8217;t work that way once you stop this diet.
</p>
<p>To sum it up: it just makes you poop a lot. This diet is extremely dangerous because you&#8217;re taking in minimal calories, you aren&#8217;t even eating, and worsens heart conditions. You don&#8217;t need to fast to lose weight, period.
</p>
<p><strong>Some Real Tips</strong><br />Do you want some tips for losing weight with a quick diet?  You can&#8217;t &#8212; at least not healthfully. The key to lifelong, substantial weight loss is to eat good, exercise, and drink plenty of water. It won&#8217;t be quick, it might <em>bore</em> you, but it&#8217;s a lot honorable than risking your health. These diets &#8212; The Sacred Heart Diet and The Master Cleanse &#8212; shed major pounds but advance back once you eat normally. It&#8217;s not mountainous for life. All you get from this is fake weight, so skip it while you can.<br /></p>
